When building a race engine, replacing your potentially old and worn out water pump can be just as important as upgrading pistons and rods. Your water pump is critical to engine longevity as it is the heart of the cooling system. Water pump failure can lead to an overheating engine which can damage the headgasket, permanently warp the cylinder head and/or the engine block, and potentially lead to total engine failure.
A water pump is a relatively inexpensive part in the list of parts you will need to assemble your engine. Don't roll the dice, replace your water pump with a brand new fresh OEM unit while your engine is apart, to avoid taking your engine apart again and starting over after a cooling system failure.
We prefer to use genuine factory OEM water pumps. The quality control, fitment, and finish are superior. They just work.
