These are Mahle PowerPak forged 4032 alloy pistons for 6 Bolt Mitsubishi 4g63t 2.0L Turbo engines found in early model Mitsubishi Eclipses, and several other platforms. Please verify you have a 6 bolt crank (and not a later model 7 bolt crank) before purchasing these parts. Mahle makes several Pistons and we try to keep several of the most popular part numbers in stock. Mahle Pistons are made of a high silicone 4032 alloy which is designed to have a lower thermal expansion rate than the commonly used 2618. These pistons go through several heat treatments that provide them with a higher strength and wear resistance with an evenly distributed hardness.
Coating-
Mahle PowerPak pistons are Coated with a phosphate dry lubricant to protect the rings against micro-welding and enhance lubrication on the skirt/cylinder area. The Phosphate coating gives the piston its grey appearance provides a lubricant film in the pin bores and ring grooves until the oiling system of the engine reaches operating pressure. They also feature a Grafal anti-friction coating on the skirts to reduce drag, scuffing, friction, and cylinder bore wear. This also reduces piston noise.
