GSC Beehive 80lb Valvesprings and Ti Retainers 4G63 4G63T DSM

This is a set of 16 GSC single wound Beehive Valvesprings and Titanium Retainers for Mitusbishi 4G63 Engines commonly found in the Eclipse GST GSX, and many other 4g63 powered vehicles.

Beehive springs allow you to run a smaller, more lightweight retainer. Reducing valvetrain mass improves harmonics and helps the spring return the valve to a fully closed position between cam rotations. This prevents unnecessary valve overlap and compression loss at high rpm. 

Your stock valve springs can fail in 3 different ways.

• BIND -

• They can "bind" and get stuck, losing their ability to open and close the valve. This is an easily diagnosable failure. Depending on how it binds, it could cause failure to other engine parts.

• BREAK -

• They can "break" into pieces dropping the valve into the combustion chamber and consequently ruining your bottom end.

• FLOAT -

• "Valve Float" is a hard to diagnose condition where the valve spring rate is not high enough to fully extend the spring and close the valve after a complete rotation of the cam before the cam comes back around again. So what ends up happening is that when the cam is spinning fast (high rpm) the valve never closes, and combustion leaks out of the engine, and the engine loses power.

We recommend the use of  GSC 80lb Beehive Kits with GSC S1 and S2 Cams for use in street and strip applications. There is a higher pressure 100lb Beehive Kit for use with S2 and S3 cams if you are using cams with aa more aggressive lift and duration.
